Dependency on social media

I'm going to start out with being honest here. I'm one of those people who at parties and gatherings just sit and stare at my phone (mainly Facebook and Twitter).

But I can't be the only one, who is becoming increasingly annoyed by the fact that people always stare at their phones rather than just talking.

Of course I can't speak for anyone but myself and my family, but it's getting worse and worse, but are we the only ones? Or are there other people out there that feels like people are getting more dependent on social media ...?

Use of Social Media sites

We recently found this picture,
while searching for some information.

Now, if you look at these various pictures, you will be able to see, first of all what gender mainly uses the sites, and secondly what age groups mainly use this site. Does any of this surprise you, or is it like you expected?

We want to know, which ones of these groups do you belong in? Does it perhaps bother you that you belong in more than one of these ?

Info about our "facts" posts ...

As some of you may have noticed, our "Facts" posts, are about Americans. We, in this group, have decided to start out with some facts about the American youths use of social media, so you could say that we are kind of working on an American project.

It's only temporarily though, we are trying hard to find interesting new facts so we can expand. We try to find very similar facts ( as the American ones ), but from other parts of the world, so we in the end will be able to compare these different continents.

What do you think about that? Is that okay with you, or do you have another suggestion for us?

Fact about teenagers and social media #2

Today we have another bit of exciting facts for you ;)!

Another study, of Amanda Lenhart, shows th
at 65% of the American teenagers use "an online social networking site". 61% of those teenagers, send their friends messages through "social networking sites".

( We're aware that there is a difference in what our statistics and the pictures says, but we thought that the picture would be relevant anyway! )
